Effective August 10, 2026. TableTalk is made by Imported Foods Corp., Boston, MA.
The short version: while you translate, audio is processed in the cloud and never
stored; your transcripts stay on your phone; we have no accounts, no analytics, and nothing
to sell.
What the app processes
Microphone audio. While a conversation is running, and only then, the
microphone audio is streamed to a specialized speech-recognition provider that produces the
live transcript. The provider processes audio in real time under a data-processing agreement,
does not retain audio or transcripts after the session, and acts only on our instructions.
The provider's identity is available on request. Audio is never sent when the app is not
actively listening, and the screen shows a red "Recording" indicator, in both session
languages, the entire time it is.
Transcripts. Saved conversations are stored only on your device, excluded
from iCloud backups, and encrypted at rest by iOS. Deleting them in the app deletes them. We
never see them.
Subscription status. To start a session, the app proves to our server
that the device runs an untampered copy of TableTalk (Apple's App Attest) and holds an active
subscription (an Apple-signed receipt). Our server keeps a per-device usage meter: a random
device identifier and a count of translated minutes. That identifier is not linked to your
name, Apple ID, or anything else about you. We could not link it if we wanted to.
What we don't do
No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
No analytics or tracking SDKs. No advertising. No sale or sharing of personal data.
No storage of your audio or transcripts on any server, ours or anyone else's.
The other person in the conversation
Translating a conversation necessarily processes the speech of the person you're talking
with. The app shows a visible red "Recording" indicator in both languages whenever it is
listening, and the transcript is on the screen between you. You are responsible for
telling the person you're speaking with that a transcript is being made. See our
Terms. If someone you spoke with wants a transcript deleted, it lives only
on your phone: delete it there.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Your choices
Withdraw consent any time in Settings → Privacy → Withdraw consent; the app stops sending
audio until you accept again.
Delete any or all conversations in the app; there is no copy anywhere else.
Microphone access can be revoked in iOS Settings at any time.
Children
TableTalk is not directed at children under 13 and processes no data to identify age.
